Welcome to a story I never wanted to write!
I’m Laura. I’d rather be writing here at
. Or helping other writers get published here at .But now I’m on another proverbial journey, and breast cancer is terrible. So we’re going to get to the good side as soon as we can and make the most of the meantime.
I don’t know how often I will post here, but I promise it won’t be at an obnoxious rate. Most of what I want to say these days is a string of expletives that would make Roy Kent blush, so I have to translate my thoughts into a PG-13 level here anyway. Which is hard. Because cancer is an absolute jerk.
Join the Compassion Brigade
CaringBridge is a wonderful site for so many people! It is not for me.
But I know so many of you dear folks want to know how things are going with me and The Damned Spot (Franco’s clever nickname for the tumor, with a hat tip to The Bard). So I’d rather hang out in a corner I enjoy.
Hence the Compassion Brigade. I figured it was a livelier alternative to CaringBridge; also it sounds like we might earn patches and make s’mores after good deeds which I am here for all day, every day. Theologically speaking, compassion (“to suffer with”) is even more interesting and important for me than care. I’m so grateful you care. AND what I really want is for all of us to become more compassionate humans because good gracious, have you read the news lately.
So jump on the Brigade, baby. I will both overthink things here AND wax sarcastic about them.
I’m sure this will want to make you a paid subscriber. In all seriousness, I’m about to lose almost all my income as a self-employed writer and speaker. So anything you want to throw in the hat will give me a small but steady source of income for the next year while I work to destroy cancer cells. Did I mention my husband and I are raising 5 strapping boys so basically my whole income goes toward groceries anyway?
Here’s our GoFundMe.
