Donated in thanksgiving for your FOOTNOTES but also because you're a public-facing Christian who is standing up, saying the things, and leading people well in the name of Jesus. Grateful to walk with you on behalf of His people, Laura!
I’ve commented before, but continuing to ask for prayers for our family. I’m fighting stage 4 cancer and dealing with some progression. We have 8 children ages 2-14 and my husband is barely able to work right now as he’s my caretaker. We were self employed and this has been very tough financially. I’m having a very hard time with anxiety over the future and fear of leaving my children.
Becky, a few things are coming your way on 3/15 (including a book I could not resist when I saw it on your list - one of my favorites!) Praying for your family and your healing.
So many prayers coming your way, Becky! Thank you for reaching out and allowing us to support your family right now. May the peace that surpasses understanding draw near and stay close. And may you know you are not alone.
I'm on an (accidental) 5 week sabbatical between jobs (misjudged my new start date when I gave my two weeks notice at old job) and this was a gentle reminder that the rest I'm getting is good and allowed! I'm at a point in my life where I'm not yet married and don't have kids, so it's genuine rest! I keep panicking that I'm wasting my time; I'll have to revisit this post whenever that happens
Geena, I’m so glad you have this good stretch of true rest between jobs! The gift of “genuine rest,” as you so wisely say. May it nourish you for what comes next.
I felt this so deeply! Both the exhaustion and the call to rest. After all, if we’re dreaming of a world where everyone is able to rest and flourish, we better start practicing it now, right?
A friend once reminded me that it's okay to let people on the internet be wrong and that has saved me lots of strife. I like healthy dialogue, but the internet has ruined it for me. I'm also an american living in Canada and see how so many are disaffected here (and work with single mom's/mental health addictions/ect here) so I've become so very apathetic to the news. Fr. Mark Mary in Rosary in a year contrasted the lights of the world with Jesus as the light of the world. And the 3 year olds in the atrium just cling to this imagery, so I'm trying to be like them this Lent and focus on the light of Christ.
Love this, Cassandra. Wise words! I constantly remind myself: I do not fight with strangers on the Internet. I’ll respond to someone once, but if there’s not a genuine openness to engage in dialogue, then we’re both wasting our time backing into respective corners. Better to pray for them and ask them to pray for me and let the Wisdom of God hover close to sort it out.
Please please pray for Meghan, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and for her family. You can give here, if you are able: https://www.givesendgo.com/meghansterett?utm_source=sharelink&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=meghansterett
Thank you for sharing this. Grateful to be able to support her family & keep them close in prayer.

Thank you, Kerry! I am so grateful for your support.

Whew, Amen, Courtney. Your words felt like a long exhale. Yes, this is the dream and the rest is part of our collective flourishing.
Much needed reminder! I think I'll take Lenten Sundays off from believing I'm saving the world by consuming the news and over-feeling its impact.
Your words made me laugh out loud in the best way, JP. I fall into these traps, too! I’m thinking of doing the same this Lent.

Laura! You are the very best. Thank you!!
Thank you, friend! So deeply grateful for you!
I was blessed to be invited to a havurot with the Assn of Hebrew Catholics on Heschel’s book on the Sabbath:

I highly recommend it. It is changing the way I think about many things in addition to Shabbat.
